Getting a Job

Workplace Laws

Q: What's the difference between a job and a career?

A: You get a job to pay the bills. You choose a career as a result of planning: you have identified your skills and your interests, and you have chosen a path to follow that will provide you multiple opportunities to use those skills and interests.

Student Services and Career Services have resources to help you with this process of identifying careers. The Career Development Center (CDC), located in Student Services, has a number of guides, catalogs, applications, and software related to both careers and college.
