The School-To-Career Program (STC) at SRMHS assists students in preparing for the global workplace. It encompasses three major components:

  • School-Based Learning
  • Work-Based Learning
  • Connecting Activities

Within these components, students learn and develop skills in the following categories:

  • Hard Skills : Higher Skills in mathematics, problem solving, occupational skills.
  • Soft Skills : Ability to work in teams, communication, career management.
  • Ability To Use A Personal Computer to carry out basic tasks, i.e. word processing.

School To Career

 SRMHS career team staff consists of our Principal, Career Development Coordinator, School-to-Career Coordinator, Department Chairs, Career Counselor and SRMHS Business Alliance chairperson.

The Career Center, accessible to students during lunch and by appointment, offers on-line job, career, and college services.

All students should prepare a three-, four-, or five-year plan of study in Academic Coaching.   Through School-To-Career services, students participate in career shadowing, internships, apprenticeships and business/education interchange projects.

By the end of freshman year (ninth grade) SRHS students should have:

  • discovered self-awareness attributes that contribute to the career planning process.
  • become aware of interest periods that will enhance the plan of work.
  • established a working relationship with their counselor.
  • explored career opportunities on-line.
  • established a graduation plan.

By the end of the sophomore year (tenth grade) SRHS  students should have:

  • opportunities in career shadowing.
  • updated the graduation plan.
  • developed resume writing skills.

By the end of the junior year (eleventh grade) SRHS students should have:

  • opportunities in career shadowing and internships.
  • taken the PSAT.
  • taken the SAT.
  • taken the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery).
  • finalized plans to meet the 20-credit graduation requirement.
  • explored career opportunities in the Career Center.

By the end of their senior year (twelfth grade) SRHS students should have:

  • completed the graduation project.
  • developed interviewing skills.
  • fulfilled the graduation plan.
  • developed and implemented a post-secondary plan.
  • participated in internships or apprenticeships.
