"Social studies classes here at SRHS have really opened my eyes to the wide variety of political and social issues facing people today." - Mike B.
The Social Studies curriculum is designed to enlighten students about the social aspects of the world around them, and enable them to correspond with and participate in their communities in a well-informed manner. Students face challenges in the form of hands-on activities and simulations such as imitation trials and Senate hearings, The Renaissance Faire, and "The Rally in the Alley." The department further serves its students through its partnership with the North Carolina Museum of History.
