
The Digital Arts Career Focused Learning Community will allow students to come together to share their interest, knowledge, and aspirations in the creation, distribution and publication of digitally created works of art. It will incorporate the change that is occurring in the Arts media and the consequences this change will have in our schools.
The Arts are undergoing a subtle transformation in medium. Just as the shift from oral communication to print has changed the Arts, so too, will the conversion from "hardcopy" to "electronic" media. Students in the Digital Arts community will develop their talent, increase their ability, and replace desire with dedication, as they acquire the skills needed to use the new tools of this emerging digital medium.
Education is also undergoing a transformation. The walls of the conventional classroom are not only being torn down, they no longer exist. Distance learning has forever changed the way education will be delivered, but that need not create isolation and a decrease in social communication. Southeast Raleigh High School believes that a new learning environment must be created. The Digital Arts Career Focused Learning Community will require students to work together digitally, as well as acquire a sense of membership and camaraderie as they apply these skills in a nurturing, smaller learning community.
The mission of the Digital Arts Career Focused Learning Community is to provide students the opportunity to develop expertise, explore career experiences, and increase social interaction within the Digital Arts community.
