Exam Exemption

Seniors may earn an exemption from course ending examinations based upon the following criteria:

  • Seniors with an A average and no more than three absences in the class may be awarded an exemption from the exam.
  • Seniors with B average and no more than two absences in the class may earn an exemption from the exam.

Notes:

  • Exemptions will not be granted for state mandated examinations:
    • VOCATS assessments: CTE courses
    • End-of Course: English I, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • The count includes each instructional day of the term.
  • Attendance will be calculated by period by the teacher.
  • Time missed for the following are not considered absences:
    • approved school related activities,
    • Board of Education approved religious holidays, and
    • pre-scheduled guidance appointments.
  • A student with an unexcused absence, regardless of the grade average, will forfeit the privilege of being exempt from the examination.
  • The qualifying grade average is based upon all grades from the beginning of the semester.
